Celtic amulet Physics and Toys
Swarozyn

Is a celtic amulet from polished stone, rotating only in counterclockwise direction, a scientific exhibit in Physics? Contrary to expectations, the exact explanation of this phenomenon requires a complicated computer modelling.

We would like to invite you to have a common fun with "Physics and Toys" web site. It's predecessor is a collection of the toys collected by prof. V. Zanetti from Trento University which was presented in many interactive exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.

This exhibition was presented first time in Poland in 1998 thanks to efforts of prof. dr hab. G. Karwasz from Insitute of Physics at Pomeranian Pedagogical Academy in Slupsk.

It met a big interest what motivated us to collect own, still growing collection of the toys and to elaborate them in a multimedial form of the simple experiments which are grouped into four thematical cathegories: mechanics, optics, thermodynamics and electricity and magnetism. The preparation of similar collections should not make any problems, because most of the presented exhibits is currently in posession of school laboratories or they are easy to be bought within a small budget in souvenir and toy shops. Often they are simple at grasp, in a form of items used in the common life.

Exhibition was presented so far:

In all above mentioned places exhibiton meet big interest and enthusiasm of the visitors. For example during editions in Warsaw and in Slupsk, during two weeks there was about 10.000 visitors. The exhibition was also widely commented in public media.
