Wheels should be ellipses.

Gamow in "Mr Tompkins in Wonderland" (I bought it recently at the sale) is drawing slim biker at bike with ellipsoidal wheels. Caption under this drawing says: Bike and young man were unproportionally flattened in movement direction like they were watch through cylindrical lens. Note of the translator (Ludwik Natanson) is following:" In fact, like it was shown by J. Terell in 1959, relativistic shortening of the dimensions would be invisible in case of movement perpendicular to observation direction. I will be compensated by apparent lenghtening due to uneven length of optical ways from particular bodies points in movement into viewer's eye direction".
