Electromagnetism
Interaction between coils
Two
coils, of a single turn, facing each other and each carrying a current
attract or repel each other, in the same way observed with bar magnets
depending on the direction of the current in each coil.
Two coils, each with several turns, are placed together. When a current
is passed through each they attract or repel according to the direction
of the currents, as in the case of the previous demonstration.
The effects are amplified with respect to those occurring in the previous demonstration.
The magnetic effects depend upon the number of turns on the coils.
